![Noteworthy comment: In this study, Barr et al. reveal that different serotypes of Dengue virus tend to demonstrate cell-type specific infectivity profiles, despite the fact that there is only a single strain of Dengue. These findings suggest a novel basis explaining the phenomena of co-infection with multiple DENV serotypes and for the observation of co-circulation of multiple DENV serotypes in the same biospace, i.e. in the same individual and/or in a single endemic region.
