Review
![Noteworthy comment: This is a well written review on a relevant topic in neuroscience research, specifically the evaluation of nutritional effects on neurodegenerative disease. Since evaluation of behavior and cognition in rodent models underpins mechanistic and interventional studies of brain aging and neurodegenerative diseases, especially dementia, this report is timely. To evaluate the efficacy of nutritional interventions the authors cite commonly used tests such as the Morris water maze, Barnes maze, object recognition, fear conditioning, radial arm water maze and Y maze, which each reflect some aspects of human memory including episodic memory, recognition memory, semantic memory, spatial memory and emotional memory. Referenced studies evaluate a host of nutritional interventions including caloric restriction, intermittent fasting and manipulation of macronutrients. These dietary interventions have been shown to influence various cognitive and behavioral tests in rodents indicating that nutrition can influence brain aging and possibly neurodegeneration.](assets/img/article_icons/noteworthy.png)
