![Noteworthy Comment: This manuscript is noteworthy in its presentation of current data on the formidable costs of chronic pain within the primary care context. As responsibility for chronic pain management is returned to primary care medicine, these data will hopefully allow policy makers to focus additional resources on managing chronic pain in a more cost-effective manner rather than allowing treatment to linger in more expensive (although not necessarily more effective) specialty care.](assets/img/article_icons/noteworthy.png)
