Dr Malaty
Dr. Malaty is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, in the United States. She is an epidemiologist in the discipline of Gastroenterology. She is a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology and a member of the American Gastroenterology Association.
After receiving her M.D. from Cairo University, she had a full scholarship to continue her training in the United Stated where she received her master and doctor of philosophy degrees from the University of Texas, health Science Center in 1991.
Her research focus started on studying the epidemiology of Helicobacter pylori infection and its role in causing peptic ulcer disease. She studied the epidemiology of this infection in the United States. Additionally, she traveled the globe to study the distribution, the prevalence, the risk factors and the mode of transmission of the infection, e.g. Russia, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Sweden, Check Republic and Poland.
She is also interested in studying the epidemiology of gastroesophegeal Disease (GERD) in children. Her current interest and focus is to study the etiology of irritable bowel disease (IBD) in adults and children. She has published over 100 peer reviewed articles and book chapters and over 200 presentations at scientific meetings.
