Defining Genetic Contributors to Cancer Risk

Dove Medical Press is pleased to invite you to submit your research to an upcoming Article Collection on "Defining Genetic Contributors to Cancer Risk" in Cancer Management and Research.

Genetic factors influence susceptibility to cancer. Understanding how genes influence tumor cells and increase cancer risk is essential for advancing personalized medicine. Elucidating the mechanisms underlying the genetic underpinning of cancer risk will lead to novel insights that could revolutionize our approach to cancer prevention. Additionally, measuring genetic contributions to the cancer among specific populations will help direct priorities for population-based interventions. This call for manuscripts invites contributions which explore how the genome and genetic modifiers influence cancer biology, mechanisms, incidence and outcomes.

By elucidating the genetic underpinnings of cancer susceptibility and risk we will clarify how to reduce the cancer burden for populations and develop targeted screening strategies. This special collection seeks to consolidate cutting-edge research and insights into the genetics of cancer, welcoming submissions across a spectrum of topics. Contributions may include:

  • Cancer and genetic epidemiology
  • Incorporating genomics and other "omics" measurements into early detection and screening processes
  • Identifying genomic biomarkers of cancer risk
  • Determining the mechanisms of action in the relation between genetic markers and cancer risk
  • Mechanisms of gene regulation in cancer progression
  • Optimal clinical use of existing anticancer agents, including combination therapies as related to ‘omics biomarkers
  • Influence of genetic variability on therapeutic response

We encourage submissions of original research articles, reviews, case studies, and meta-analyses that advance our understanding of how genetics and the genome shape cancer susceptibility and treatment outcomes. We aim to foster dialogue among experts and accelerate the translation of genomic discoveries into clinical practice, ultimately reducing the cancer burden worldwide.

The deadline for submitting manuscripts is 16 May 2025.

Please submit your manuscript on our website, quoting the promo code XGUQR to indicate that your submission is for consideration in this Article Collection.

What is the advantage to you of publishing in Cancer Management and Research?

  • It is an open access journal which means that your paper is available to anyone in the world to download for free directly from the Dove Medical Press website.
  • Although Cancer Management and Research receives many papers, unlike many traditional journals, your paper will not be rejected due to lack of space. We are an electronic journal and there are no limits on the number or size of the papers we can publish.
  • The time from submission to a decision being made on a paper can, in many journals, take some months and this is very frustrating for authors. Cancer Management and Research has a quicker turnaround time than this. Generally peer review is complete within 3-4 weeks and the editor’s decision within 2-14 days of this. It is therefore very rare to have to wait more than 6 weeks for first editorial decision.
  • Many authors have found that our peer reviewers’ comments substantially add to their final papers.

To recover our editorial and production costs, and continue to provide our content at no cost to readers, we charge authors or their institution an article publishing charge.
